View Full Version : Layering sealant, diminishing return?

I've added a few coats of sealant over the span if about 8 weeks or so. Anyone think that this is a bad idea? Am I wasting product? No correction, just adding layers. It's a daily driver and parked outdoors. My thinking is it's always under tough conditions and that the sealant is slowly degrading a bit everyday.
Thoughts?

No harm in that. As long as the paint doesn't need clayed then you are fine with adding coats. Daily drivers parked outside 24/7 sometimes need that extra protection.

Thanks for the quick reply. My understating is that I can use a light duty clay on top of the sealant with no issues.

Wow expensive product lol... Should cause no harm putting layers on, how do you like the ammo skin ? How well does it bead and shed water ?

I used to have to park my DD outside 24/7 and I too agree about layering, LOL, look at my sig! I also agree about claying from time to time and no, clay doesn't remove any layers when its your basic clay bar. I assume the car is kept clean, that's the absolute best thing in the world for that paint, along with using a good quick detailer, either homemade or company made. Since I like to layer myself I would like to suggest that after claying the car you might wanna mix in a cleaner type product afterwards. Personally after I clay I'll apply a coat of DG #501/601 to clean things up, then a coat of DG #105/601 and finish w/ some DG #111/601. After that I'll apply "whatever I'm feelin'" at the moment, but usually sometime a week or so after, LOL!
