Well, months of relentless effort finally paid off for one of our own. Armed with a desire to contribute to the world, and his love and passion for car detailing, our own Son1c (aka Drew Elias) set out to make his mark.

His thread http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/66416-son1c-s-home-brew-carnauba-wax-protowax-picture-heavy.html brought us on his journey to develop his own brand of wax. How many natural and hybrid prototypes has he gone through??? I would be remissed if I did not point the fact that his thread (as of right now) has over 15921 views and 408 replies on 41 pages. That in itself is an accomplishment, but considering that this is only one of MANY threads he has contributed to the AGO site. I have to lift my hat to him. Best of all, how many people can claim to have brought their "vision" to completion? He did!

I am personally so proud of him, and in such took the first opportunity to support his effort.

So what did the USPS delivered this morning? YOU GUESSED IT! Son1cwax Carnaubavore #7/843....... What is your number?

Feel free to show your support though encouraging comments, and if you have a Son1cwax, please show it off!

If you have read my previous reviews on his prototype wax 36 and 38 and 54x, I have always ranted and raved on absolutely awesome his wax smelled. It is by far the best smelling thing in my arsenal of products for sure, even surpassing my second favorite (V7) which reminds me of my childhood drinking orange Tang.

The Carnaubavore actually smells even better than the last prototype wax I tried, which leads me to think that he improved it even beyond his last PW.

I would qualify it as Cherry Hubba Bubba gum.....

Not only to show my support for our forum member Son1c;
but also in the support of the: Save the TA TA'S >>>pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month:

An order for: "Carnaubavore" has now been placed...
Accordingly:
The Good Wife's vehicle should look almost good enough to eat...wearing this beauty of a wax!

Bob, I can always count on you for a good belly laugh!

"in support of the: Save the TA TAs"..... HILARIOUS!

I was about to place an order, figuring it was ~$30/40 for a 4oz pot...

but its $70? the 3oz size of: dodo super natural hybrid, chockwork orange, blackfire midnight sun, pinnacle souveran, are not even that expensive. While I can see it is one more oz, it definitely is overpriced. Yes there are some good reviews, but his wax is not better than any of those listed, so hard to justify the steep cost

I'll let you know how it compares to at least one of the LSP's you listed...
as soon as my pot of "Carnaubavore" arrives.

I'll even go one step further to explain my above position:
"I don't make judgements on any LSP's, unless I've actually personally tried them".

Sorry you feel that way ArkayoDeetayo. I wish I had some reassuring words of wisdom for you, but I am not sure what would be needed at this time!?!

It would be fun to have a break down on the cost/benefit ratio to validate the purchase, but we don't have enough information to compare the raw ingredient, additives, synthetic polymers, chargers, solvents etc.. I can only share that my personal experience with the samples I had was unlike any other in terms of the amount of product needed to do the work, so from that I can only extrapolate a cost/use, which is one of many reasons I chose to purchase the wax.

Did the same thought on "cost" come to mind when I did my purchase? Yup! But I did have a little more experience then you to make an informed decision.

Was my decision purely mathematical? Nope! Because in part (and as expressed by Bob), I am showing support!

yeah I understand you got a sample of it, but I am just saying the cost is steep, for only a 4oz container, and it is not an established wax, it is a starting one. In no way am I knocking the product though, just that it is overpriced for a wax he just made...no one is going to take a big dive into "sonic wax' which is unheard of besides here in the forums, when they can pick up other NAME BRAND waxes that have been proven to be winners. I know the price has kept me out of the running to try his wax. While the reviews of others who have "sampled" his wax rave how great it is, I know there are going to be biases where people will praise due to being able to try it and some who even met the guy.

If you feel that way I completely understand and that is fine as you are entitled to your opinion.

Here are some things to consider however

I use natural solvents, which are at least 10x (some 100x) the cost of the average solvents used in many established waxes

Each label is individually serialized, you would have a pot one of a kind. Do you know why no wax manufacturers bother to label digitally? It's extremely expensive. In my case it was 5 times the cost of a basic label with no number/number. Going into this endeavor for my first wax I wanted it labeled digitally because as a wax enthusiast and collector that is something I always want to see, and it's never really done. So I did it.

I simply cannot buy ingredients at the volume that the "established" do, unfortunately that makes this more expensive, in comparison with other waxes I have a very low profit margin.

Also in reference to chocwork orange , I have not seen an IWL by dodo juice for under $65 within the US. In turn they always end up hovering back to $69.99
