To make a long story short. On Friday while I was washing my car, I discovered some hit and run damage to my passenger side rear bumper. On monday, found the car that hit me parking in the same parking spot at work. Cops came and did nothing because no one saw it and no video camera footage. Her car has my grey paint on her front bumper and I have her white paint on my car. I talked to someone who knows her and they said she just got her driver's license a week ago. I feel great injustice.

Short of having to repaint the bumper. Is there anything I can do to fix or make the damage less noticeable? I remember reading about a member on here fixing long key scratch on a toyota corolla using touch up paint, wet sand and polish. I know my scratch are not as thin as a key scratch. Do you guys think I can pull it off using touch up paint, wet sand and buff? I know its not going to be perfect but I just want to make it better without repainting. Here are some pics. Thanks in advance for suggestions. Below are pics of the damages.

It will buff right out.

The black spots that you see, the paint is completely gone there.

I would say that this would need to be repainted to make it right.

The only other option I can see if you are looking for an DIY (and considering that a lower rear quarter with defined body seams) would be to contact a place like automotivetouchup and get some paint mixed in a spray can. The process is simple but tideous. You tape and mask the area (wheel well, to bumper line above, to a vertical line on the corner of the bumper) and sand down to remove the defect. Sand to recommended grit, then prime with rattle can, then paint with pre-mixed rattle can (thin coats overlapping the wet edge), then clear using a 2 part urethane highgloss clear (multiple layers). After the recommended cure time, wet sand and buff to a shine!

et voila!

I believe they have a video showing a repair on a Porsche Cayenne. I don't remember if they use a 2 part urethane rattle can for the clear or a spray gun?! In any case, you can decide if its something for you after you watch the video.

Good luck!
