Hey guys, I'm looking for an air compressor that is small enough to fit in a Honda civic, and sufficient enough for blowing out mf pads as well as air purging interiors/cracks/crevices

I'm looking at this one on Craigslist
A kobalt 1.5 hp 3 gallon unit, idk the cfm

Do you think something this size is sufficient enough for my needs? I do use a lot of air blowing out interiors at work with a 26 gallon 5hp unit

Thanks
Ken

That's pretty sweet man! How long can you have the trigger on an air gun held for before it becomes insufficient?

I have found short bursts work the best but I can blow out a pad completely and be fine.

I bought a small compressor from Harbor Freight. I would recommend NOT buying a small compressor from Harbor Freight.

You can't go wrong with a Thomas. See if you can find a used one, since they're a bit pricey new but they're built like a tank.

No matter what you go with in a portable one, you're going to be disappointed compared to the big 26 gal 5HP unit you're used to. If you want a fairly quiet one, that adds to the price. For your air gun use, you might try for a 3 gallon capacity to stretch the ON time, but much bigger than that and it's not all that portable.

I have the small one from Harbor Freight for 3 years never a problem with it ever and you can buy a 2 year replacement warranty for $10. If its on sale its only $40.

I've gone through 4-5 small compressors. Both oil and oil-less. I am now using a Makita MAC700 Big-Bore and couldn't be happier with it's air flow and performance. It is also extremely quiet. I'd buy another in a minute.http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61x8JKv2ezS._SL1000_.jpg

Good call and that does look like a pretty good package for the ~$200 price, widely available from several sources, and gets good reviews (over 300 5-star reviews on Amazon). If I didn't already have a compressor in this size category I'd definitely consider it. I guess the question is whether (at 60 lbs) it's too heavy for the OP to still consider it portable (which can depend on age and other factors).

60 lbs is about right where I'd expect my air compressor to weigh

I'm now looking at this one

2 Horsepower, 4 gal., 125 PSI Twin Tank Air Compressor (http://www.harborfreight.com/2-horsepower-4-gal-125-psi-twin-tank-air-compressor-60567.html)

What do you guys think?
