Make this go away!

Hey guys, I have tried to clean these up several times with no luck. I've used steel wool and various metal polishes. What do you guys do to get back there and scrub this stuff off?

It looks like some paint is coming off from the muffler. That could be fixed, with hi-temp paint. Some even use paint for barbecue grills. You would have to remove the muffler and clean it well to get a good job.

If your talking about the chrome tips, first thing I use is a strong chrome wheel cleaner, liked Meg's wheel acid. Just don't let it dry or get overspray on the paint. After that, I use IronX, to help dissolve rust. Then APC. Then you have to use a chrome polish. Get a polish labeled "for chrome", not "metal" or aluminum.

Then seal them with OptiCoat.

That's how I would go about it and what I did to mine.

I was referring to pretty much all of the muffler area and tips.
