So I had this idea on one of the Mustang forums I post on, and thought it'd be fun to bring it over here to see what a more broad audience comes up with.

It originally started as what car you would pick to make the biggest power out of, cheaply...but for the sake of keeping it open to more people lets just say, "pick a project car for any purpose."

State whether it'd be to make it a show car, rally, 4X4, to have 600+hp street legal car, etc.

I was thinking an 01-04 mustang cobra with a whipple SC. That whine from the blower is one of my favorite sounds in a car!

Let's see what you guys come up with.

My ultimate street/strip resto-mod, would be set up for autocross as well. 1970-71 Ford Ranchero GT. Lowered and on air ride. Jon Kaase Boss Nine racing engine or FRPP 5.0L Coyote Aluminator with a Whipple or a fully built 5.8L out of the 13-14 Shelby GT500's. Moser 9 inch rear with 4.10's. Tremec 6spd or an automatic with paddle shifters.

Looking somewhat cosmetically.

I have so many other projects I would like to do, especially cheap ones, but if I ever had the opportunity I would attempt the Ranchero first.

I would want to finish the project I already started, but haven't had time to work on in a long time. Bought the car with a toasted clutch, put a new centerforce dual friction clutch in it. Drove it about 5-10 miles and took the spoiler off to clean it up and paint it and it turned into this.

It's a 78 Formula Firdbird that I planned on doing a pro-touring/g machine build with eventually. However with starting to do detailing within the last few months, it is just eating up garage space and I am debating selling it off or parting it out possibly.

I do have some regrets selling this last fall also.

The car that I really want though is a 70-73 Formula Firebird.

I'd build up a WRX STi. Probably a 2004.

They would involve SN95 or fox body Mustangs, mostly fox body's though. Basically just do a little top end work on the motor while doing little upgrades on the rest of the drive train and suspension. A cheap car that you could take to the track and have fun with. Or find a fox body roller, build a mild carbed 302 or 351 with minimum supporting drive train upgrades to handle abuse and the same for the suspension. Basically just have the car strong from a mechanical standpoint, and there are many ways to that with a fox body. You would have a car that is great on the street and the track and just a blast overall for under $10k.

My car, but instead of making it look better, I want to key the sh!t out of the paint and beat it with a baseball bat, just so I don't have to wash it or take care of it anymore.
