HI GUYS
I FILL TERRIBLE AFTER ALL THIS YEARS TAKING CARE OF MY BABY.
I ALWAYS BUY TOYOTA BUT NOW...

LET ME TELL YOU THIS NIGHTMARE,
FIRST I WRITING THIS WITH GOOGLE TRANSLATOR SO PLEASE EXCUSE MY GRAMMAR.

LIKE MANY OF US WE ARE VERY, VERY CARE ABOUT OUR CARS.
ONE DAY DURING THE DETAILING OF MY TOYOTA FJ 2007 MY WIFE SEE A LITTLE STRANGE SPOT ON THE DOOR (DRIVER SIDE).
THE SIZE IS LIKE ERASER OF THE PENCIL. ONLY CAN SEE AT 1'
OF DISTANCE.
I MAKE THE COMMENT IN A TOYOTA FORUM JUST TO CHECK IF SOMEONE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE PAINT.
ONE OF THE OTHER MEMBERS SUGGESTED ME REMOVE THE INTERIOR PANEL TO VERIFY.
I THINK PICS TALK BETTER THAN MY ENGLISH,

THIS IS THE PICK AT 2' DISTANCE

SO MY WIFE WANT TO SEE INSIDE,
WE FOUND THIS:
TOYOTA PUT INSIDE THE PANEL A PATCH FOR INSULATION.
LITTLE SING OF RUST, BUT NO... THAT'S NOT OK FOR MY WIFE SHE WANT TO CUT A LITTLE PIECE OF THE PATCH .

THIS IS NO HAPPEN!!!! NOT TO ME
WHY? NEED SO SEE IT CLOSE

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm266/PERUANOFJ/G_zpsa579cf6f.jpg (http://s298.photobucket.com/user/PERUANOFJ/media/G_zpsa579cf6f.jpg.html)

GUYS, THE WATER WAS ACCUMULATE BETWEEN THE PATCH AND THE DOOR PANEL ( THEY DON'T PUT ANY SEALER ON THE FJS)
I NEVER DO OFF ROAD, ALWAYS INSIDE THE GARAGE WITH AIR CONDITION.
ONE MORE... ON THE TOYOTA FORUM FOUND TWO MORE MEMBERS WITH EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE.
IF SOME OF YOU HAVE ONE FJ PLEASE PUT A LITTLE SEALER ON TOP OR AROUND THE PATCH, BECAUSE NO WARRANTY FOR THIS THEY SAID.

THANKS MY WIFE TO WROTE THIS FOR ME, SHE IS ALWAYS THERE FOR ME.

Isn't there a rust warranty on vehicles for 7 years or so?

Not warranty after 5 years or 60,000 odo
the problem this not happen for abuse, is because they put the patch and not sealer on top.
Toyota said if they receive many complains with the same situation they return the money that i spend to repair the damage.
But I don't know what happen with the quality of Toyota.
they have on FJ one recall for the seat belt on the rear panel and other for the fog lights.

I feel your pain, man, and tremendously. I had a 2007 Mazda3 that I kept so clean and beautiful, people thought it was a 2010 model or newer. Sadly, it was rusting big time under where the mirrors bolt on to the front doors and there were other rusty areas that were all concealed, but still posed an issue obviously. Mazda wouldn't even consider looking at my car except for the actual dealer where I bought it. I bought that car brand new, owned it for 6 years and it never saw any harsh winters and it never stayed on the beach, anything to create rust. A cousin of mine has the same car and it was rusting terribly on the passenger door right where it meets up with the lower rocker panel. Ridiculous.

Toyota is a reputable company. I work at a Toyota dealer and they're always addressing recalls and getting them taken care of. Your issue is probably very, very rare, but nonetheless frustrating. Keep in touch with Toyota and see if they hear anymore complaints similar to yours. I hope things work out for the better. Nobody wants to see rust on a vehicle they take such good care of. It sometimes saddens me that I had to get rid of that car because of the rust. I just didn't want to take the chance of keeping it and it getting way worse. If that would have happened, I probably wouldn't have gotten 8 grand for it upon trade-in. I bought a 2013 Scion tC. Awesome upgrade, but sometimes I feel as if it's just another car payment, another burden. I see Mazda3's going down the road and it always reminds me of the one I had. I kept that car so clean. It was really disappointing.

Anyway, good luck. I hope things work out for you.

That makes me extremely nervous about mine...I've had the car a little over a year (2003.5 only 70k miles) and didn't notice it when I bought the car.

All going on in the red area...

Any idea what your damage is going to cost? Going to get a whole new door?

First, sorry for you BMW.
Some dealers don't understand or don't care what that"s for us.
and yes the door is $ 780 just the door, paint $ 400 + the labor to pass all the parts to the new one.

I am really sorry to hear about your FJ. I love Toyotas, I have a Tacoma myself it might be called a Hi Lux in your neck of the woods. For the most part they make a very high quality product. However in your case I think that it is a very obvious defect. I am sure there are quite a few other FJs with the same issue but most people don't notice things like this until it gets a lot worse.
Is it possible for you to get a replacement door from salvage(junkyard)?

scrace has your E46 ever been repainted or in a accident ?

I don't think so. Nothing on the carfax about it. The car wasn't driven the 4 years before I bought it, it just sat in a garage (the guy had 10 cars).

I can't see any indication of paint not matching, it's all uniform.

You know, maybe in the better situation I can buy a new door,
but we know is not the same.
Tomorrow I will go to Orlando dealer to check what deal can I get for a new FJ.

you welcome,
I think is important to others members who have a FJ , check the doors from inside and do a treatment to prevent this.
We know how much we love our cars, that's why we are interested in this forum and buy a products that maybe our neighbor don't do it.

Wow, I was looking at getting an 06-07 Mazda3 for my son soon. Should I look elsewhere?

I don't see rusted out 3's and I live in Chicagoland, sure there's some but the 3 is a pretty solid car. As far "bang for the buck" can't beat a 3!
