Ok, obviously the clear coat is starting to give up... And I expect no showroom shine, but I'd like to hide as much as possible until I have the truck painted next year. I just bought the truck... 97 z71 for $ 2500... She needs some lovin... But she's paid for!

What product could I use to livin up the clear coat for 4-6 months? Buying a house next month so the funds aren't there to just have her repainted quite yet!

I don't mean to give offense or to be negative, but the only thing that's going to make that look better is a trip to the body shop for a respray.

Yeah that paint looks pretty much done. Just save your time and money until you can get it repainted.

There is still some paint that can can be polished/practiced on IMO

I'm thinking from the holograms I'm seeing, someone already practiced on it.
maybe a long shot, but something like a glaze with some coloring stuff in it like the Turtle Wax Black box might help a bit.

Yeah a glaze like M07 may help. You'll probably need to apply it every week though..

I agree

Since he plans on getting it repainted. I figured why not try different approaches and techniques in the meantime.

I worked on the green car. I was told to have it. Repainting the green car would cost more than the car itself. It's trashed inside and out and it has a salvaged title.

I and them were surprised on how it came out on what was left. (green car) It was a favor including materials. So no harm was done. Used my PC btw but still be careful because it does look very brittle.

This is what glaze did, as others suggested. Won't hurt to try. Try glaze first and see how it goes. If you like how it looks you can top it. I have only tried Collinite 476s, but Collinite 845 could work too.

Glaze won't fix it, but could mask it until you get it repainted.

Just my opinion and just trying to help out.

Good Luck!

I'd say polish what's left. I wouldn't rely on Nu-Finish though I would get a fine cut polish for the sides and the top and then machine buff everything.

My guess is you should start by claying though as any truck this neglected will undoubtedly need to be clayed.

Then seal whatever's left with repeated applications you're favorite sealant or wax and then stay on top of it. For example, wash every other week or so and then re-seal.

:)
