I used to see this in front of my house back in the 70's. My next door neighbor was one of the crew members on the original Chi-Town car. It used to get my dad so mad. Once in a while they would do a tune up on it and fire that up. Holy crap!!!! That thing made the windows rattle on our block. Times were different back then. It was small budget and they weren't switching motors between races. It used to be on an open trailer. I used to go outside and start to walk up to the car while the guys were working on it. One of them was Austin Coil who later was a crew chief for John Force. Eventually I'd get the "Hey kid! Go back home."
Later as I got older the guy next door and I became friends. His real name was Harry, but everyone called him Poncho. Don't know why. He was like a brother and a shop teacher. Taught me how to port cylinder heads, weld and a host of tuning tricks. To this day I still visit him. He's older now. Doesn't wrench every night, but still does it. Old school hot rodder. I miss the those days. Not that I would change what I have now, but I still think those were great times to grow up as a kid.

I had a 72 Ford Maverick ( Don't laugh) Had a 351 Cleveland, the big 4bbl quench chamber heads, 4 speed top loader trans, 9" rear end. Did tons of work on that thing. Barely street legal. Never took pictures of it. Best time I ever ran with it at Union Grove Drag strip in Wi. was a 11.72. Don't remember the MPH, but I have the time slip packed away with my stuff that stored in the crawl. Loved that Hot Rod!

1982 Camaro. Don't actually remember too much about the car except for the backseat. :xyxthumbs:

1969 RT Charger. The dukes of hazzard was on and this was a project car for my friends and I. Our charger never looked or ran like the "General Lee". It was more of a "Private Benjamin". I remembered sinking every dime on that car.
