I wanted to share my going away gift that I received from work as I get ready to leave for Germany. When someone leaves the unit there is a gathering and BBQ for a going away party in the shop for the leaving personal. Friday the 23rd was the day for me. Anyhow I don’t want to bore you guys with the details and that but I thought you guys would like to see the gift that was made by our body shop for me.
You can see me in uniform and my boss in civilian clothes. This man may be “Crazier than a wooden leg with a real foot” but I have never met someone that can listen to your issues big or small no matter how much he has on his own plate. You can count on him to help you through life’s obstacles whether they are military related or personal. I am going to miss him greatly. He has been a great mentor to me.
Here you can see a Diesel piston propped up with a gear from a clutch pack in a transmission. Also on front is the Plaque that was made. All of the metal was polished up with 3000 grit sandpaper and buffed out with a buffing wheel on a bench grinder. It was taped off and painted with clear coat protecting it. Gonna have to put an LSP or spray wax on it when I get it to Germany with the rest of my supplies.
