Hey guys, my names David and I've been a browser here for a while but never posted. So I'm somewhat of a noOb when it comes to detailing. I know the basics and I do it all by hand sadly because I can't afford all that I want haha.

Anyways, on to my question. I just moved into a new place and before I washed my car there was no problem. I washed my car and then just instant detailed it with surf city garage's instant detailer. The car already had a good wax and everything so it didnt need much. the next morning after I had washed it and detailed it I noticed these little specs of something on my car. Now, they arent really hard, they smear easily and wipe off with the use of a microfiber. I cannot think of what they are but my only idea is that it is bug/spider poop. I think they may be attracted to the sweet smell of the detailer.

Anyone have this problem before!??! Its really bugging me!

Heres some pics of the problem-

Heres some other pics of my jeep. Its a 2000 jeep cherokee (xj) 4x4, just rolled to 150k miles and has the 4.0L. I got it for a hell of a deal of $2800 with 135k miles on it and not a spot of rust. I can say I'm happy.

Thanks for looking, hopefully you guys can shed some light on my problem! I may try switching to a different detailer for now but we'll see.

Little sap drops maybe? any trees around?

Were the specs also on the sides of the Jeep ? If they're just on the horizontal sections and not the vertical ones, I would think it just some type of fallout.

From your picture and description it sounds like tree sap, as mentioned.

See I thought that too originally but Ive dealt with tree sap too and I'm almost sure its not sap. My girlfriend's car is parked RIGHT behind mine and she had nothing on hers. I'm tempted to spray some instant detailer on her car and see if she starts to get what I get.

Edit- Also, with a microfiber, I can literally just like wipe it off with alittle effort.

Well, different kinds of trees have different kinds of sap. It may also be something that happens when it's hot out and perhaps your gf's car isn't there then. Or maybe it happened to your car when you were parked somewhere else?

lol you can tell ive put alot of thought into this, Ive tested a few things, it seems to appear overnight, my GF's car is there too overnight. as for when its hot, its possible but the heat has changed from when it started till now so im not 100% sure if thats the cause. As for it possibly being when I was parked somewhere else, it really couldnt be cause I noticed it in the morning, cleaned it off, then the next morning after not driving it at all it was back. it wasnt there ALLLLL day. One reason why I think it may be bugs/spiders mainly is because there was a ton all over my trash cans and then there were a few webs on my jeep. O and a dead spider on the windshield.

Also, its all over really, tops of doors, roof, windshield, hood. its weird.

I think there one easy way to find out.
You say it is on your car but not on your GF's car right?
Then switch parking spots and see what happens. If it is just on your car only and not on your GF's car, perhaps it is something you are using that are attracting the bugs.

Yea, that was my plan except I was gonna do it the other way around and just use the detailer on her car also lol. Is there any detailers that dont smell crazy good that work good???

Do note that some bugs are attracted to light. Perhaps your car is reflecting the light much better than your GF's car.

hmm, possibly, hers is tan and mine is black, I did park right by my house outdoor light.

I'm thinking the same thing.

well guys, I parked my truck where my GF parks and she's now on the street WHOOPS lol. So I guess I'll inspect it in the morning, I'm not sure if I'll get results though. hmmm. Guess we'll see.
