What type of clay should i buy? and what are the differences between the brands?

The diffrence between brands usually has to do with how soft the clay is and how aggressive the clay is, and of course color. Go with a light color if you can because it is easier to tell when you have to replace the bar.

Dp Clay is the best I have used so far, it works great for light claying and aggressive claying.

Doesn't Clay Magic hold the patent to Clay?

Blue Clay magic can be used for almost anything.

Grey Clay magic is softer and more used for prep and not overspray removal

Red and Purple clay is more aggressive and has a chance to swirl.

Just used some Poly Ultra on new paint. Very mild yet worked wonders getting the grime off without scratching. Used the sandwich baggie test--A+

yes claymagic does hold the patent on the clay. auto magic is the company. there fighting in court with all the other companys to stop selling there clay this has been going on for sometime now .

Auto Wax Inc holds the US patent on clay...there is also a Japanese company that makes it under thier name Soft99..

Clay comes in Various grits and formulations..depends on what the seller wants...you can get Ultra fine grit all the way to a heavy grit used in body shops...

I found that the original blue Clay magic is very close to the banned yellow clay...very pliable and elastic...some other clays seem to break apart..smear...dissolve with some lubes....

The blue clay is a good all around general use clay..now for overspray you may need to step up to a heavier grit....like the 3M or Megs ...but they will mar paint also...lightly ..so a polishing may be needed after use.....

so is the pinnacle poly clay any good or should i go with the DP clay...

I really like the Poly Ultra Clay. Very easy to use, pliable and soft. But remember my paint is very new so not sure how it would work on more weathered paint.

I have Zaino clay, which was crap. Don't buy it, the stuff falls apart to the point where you just want to smash someone's face in.

The Pinnacle Ultray Poly Clay is good, I like it. I have recently started buying the blue Clay Magic clay though. I can pick it up locally for $10.99 at AutoZone, what a deal.

I'm quite pleased with it, easy to manipulate it but I also got some Red Clay Magic and boy does that clay have a bite.

Ricardo clay is my go to clay, works just fine.

I've been using the DP clay for a little while now and love it. I would recommend it for sure. The Mothers clay is also good, and readily available OTC.
