I was looking to purchase Opti-coat 2 but saw that Dp now has Dp paint coating. Has anyone tried both of these products, which do you prefer? I don't mind putting on every year. Application is not really an issue, I'm looking more for durability and appearance.

Thank you

The application of both is very similar. With opti coat however if you don't remove the excess and high spots within about 10 minutes it will have to be polished off. Opti coat is permanent and the DP is not.

As far as the looks go I think opti coat is a bit more glossy whereas the DP is a bit more "glassy".

As far as appearance... 22ple VX1 Pro gets my vote as far as coatings available to consumers. It also provides very good protection, but it won't last more than 2 years.

For ease of application and looks, I would say CarPro CQUARTZ UK.

Despite some issues lately, my vote for looks is still Gtechniq C1 and OC for durability.

The DP flashes crazy fast, kind of caught me off guard and made me pick up the pace a little.

22ple, Cquartz, and Wolfs hard body are very similiar.

The issue with gtechniq c1 is with combining it with Exo correct?

That's a nice combo.

Yes, the infamous haze/sweating. What I do now is apply the C1, lightly wipe then inspect again after 1 hour to go over any hazing. Exo V1 or V2 should be applied after 24 hours to let the C1 thoroughly hardened.

I have tried many coatings including the two in question. Opti-Coat and Dp are both easy to apply. Slickness and shine go to DP IMO. As far as durability goes, the jury's out on that one. According to the claims I'd lean toward OC at this point but the DP coating is new. I also agree with "sonofoc" that GTech C1 by itself or topped with Exo is AMAZING!

Thanks for the great info. I'd try the gtechniq but the hazing has me a little nervous. Ok so now it looks like its between 22ple,cquartz, and Dp.

I have heard from several people that the consumer version of CQuartz is not the most pleasant product to work with, but I have no personal experience... 22ple is a breeze to apply. I have applied it in cold weather ~40*F and Warm Weather >80*F and have never had an issue.

No experience with DP coating.

Opti-Coat Pro for max protection.
CQuartz Finest for the look, water sheeting, ease of use, and 2+ year protection.

Is CQuartz Finest similar to CQuartz UK? It doesn't look like I can purchase Finest.
