The other day I was talking to the owner of the best (by far) detailing shop in Edmonton, AB.

Our discussion led on searching a better term/word for "detailing",especially for all the people that are OCD, or just purely passionate about paint perfection.

If you had to describe "detailing" with an other word that can describe "that passion" what would it be ?

Man, that thing is as "clinquant" as it can get.

I suffer from advanced luminosity syndrome.

I like "lambency" when I look at my vehicles.

because you can focus on whatever you choose in the moment . . .

I look at each car like its own mini project with unique needs and challenges along the way. So I can focus at times, coast at times [when experiences] have joy, and be in the moment.

This is why i love this endeavor. The outside world fades in and out. But when im with a car 1 on 1 I have the option to mentally be wherever i want a lot of the times.

Not many other endeavors afford me this type of opportunity. Running did, then my knee got f'd

then there's the other route:

OBESSSION - the endless pursuit of an end means that no matter how much effort we put into it, we will be ever chasing out coat tails because we can endlessly tweak our processes

Detailing would come from being detail oriented so meticulous or other similiar words should be similar.

From the Free Dictionary.

tr.v. (d-tl) de·tailed, de·tail·ing, de·tails
1. To report or relate minutely or in particulars.
2. To name or state explicitly: detailed the charges against the defendant.
3. To provide with artistic or decorative detail: detailed the quilt with colorful appliqué.
4. To select and dispatch for a particular duty.
5. To clean (a car interior, for example) meticulously.

Responsibility.

Caring for you stuff.

Only bung holes spend $$$$$ on a car and not take care of it.
