Review: Nevr-Dull

It seems like everytime I look at my collection I find something I'm missing. This last week I've become more and more disappointed in my exhaust tips looked, they weren't terribly dirty but they never had that pop to them I see from the pros. They were always pretty dull so after looking around a bit I found Nevr-Dull and P21S Metal Polishing Soap, this being a wadding polish and a bit cheaper I decided to try it out (not to say I don't want to try out P21S, it's still on the wish list).

Got it in today and well some free time means I had a chance to try it out.

Here's the clean exhaust tip, just dull to me and full of minor scratches

Take just a small pinch out of the can, can be a bit difficult to tear off and I would definitely recommend using gloves with this.

And the final product (plus some Meg's Hyper Dressing on the rear diffuser to give it a clean look. Can't have clean exhaust tips and a dirty diffuser can we :xyxthumbs:

Overall, my thoughts are that Nevr Dull is easy to use, cheap and effective. Now I wouldn't mind more shine and gloss from them but I think I'll need a Powerball or to pull the tips off to get that perfect shine that really reflects. For me, honestly it's just not worth it, maybe if I have some free time and can take them off I can spend some quality time with each of them. I would have no problem using this again, but I do need to say what kind of durability and longevity this has and how it stands up to the elements over time.

Thanks for the review! I've used P21S and enjoyed the results. I think you made the right choice, though. I view P21S as more of a polishing "soap", so oxidation and the like wouldn't come out. That being said, I've never tried it on really dirty tips, so for all I know it is great! Looks like we may need a side-by-side when you pick up the P21S :xyxthumbs:

Nice review. I tried the duragloss aluminum polish that comes in a wad like that and I'm just not a fan of a wadding polish. For exhaust tips I love collinite metal wax. For my aluminum wheels nothing has made them shine quite like white diamond metal polish.

Sounds like a great comparison I'll have to do once I get it in, they're different products but the results are what matter.

I love Nevr-Dull cheap and works very well, are there better out there? probably, but this product can be picked up most anywhere and has worked very well on some pretty messed up exhaust tips on cars I have detailed.

I've found that when using Nevr-Dull in the past, spraying a coat of glass cleaner on the surface you just polished not only removes any haze but seems to make the surface "pop", especially on non-clearcoated aluminum wheels.

I just posted on another thread about this. HATE IT. 20 yrs of use in the navy and it has no longevity. Thats why we used it I think,, So we would always have to do it again the next day or the day after.

S-100 Total Cycle Finish Restorer is #1. All the way. It does 100 times better. I use it on all chrome, and metal - Not just for bikes. #2 3M chrome and metal, #3 Semichrome.

All the years of owning bikes (15), I was always on a constant search for a good one. If your chrome is really bad, 0000 steel wool and whatever polish your thinking of.

They don't seem to have enough bite to remove waterspots and other stuff as easily as a dedicated polish. Check it out it is super durable.
Yes I polish by hand because I haven't found a tool that's good at getting in the tight spots on my polished aluminum wheels. Usually a microfiber towel and some polish works for me even if it takes a little time and elbow grease.

^^^Usually it's due to the presence of solvents...one of which is "the very mildest of surfactant"^^^

Really wondering if it's due to any acetone that could be in it,

^^^I try to stay away from auto-glass cleaners containing acetone as much as possible!^^^

right now I'm using Meg's D120 which is acetone free so it's safe for tint.

^^^Ammonia-free auto-glass cleaners are also usually "tint-safe".^^^

Meguiar's D120 contains:
-Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether (2-Butoxyethanol)...15-30%
-Isopropyl Alcohol...18-25%

I use this product quite often on auto-glass.

Sprayway #050 contains:
-Ethyl Alcohol...1-3%
-2-Butoxyethanol...1-3%
-Propellants (Propane; n-Butane @ 1-3% ea.)
-Non-hazardous (and other components below reportable levels)...>90%

I use this product very often on "metal-surfaces".

In a pinch (when parched)...
-IPA/Products-containing-IPA will make a "killer of a drink". Literally!
-I'm not sure if 2-Butoxyethanol will render Ethyl Alcohol to be non-potable, or not, though.

When you get the chance pick up P21s Polishing Soap. You wont be disapointed.

Also The Menzerna Metal Polishing cream works great and is worth looking into.

I'm a big fan of collinite metal wax, the results that can be achieved by hand with it are impressive
