Hi All,

I want to do a contaminant removal on my Corvette. I have the Poly Carbonite glass top and I'm concerned this product might damage the coating. Is this product safe for use on the top?

I want to do a contaminant removal on my Corvette. I have the Poly Carbonite glass top and I'm concerned this product might damage the coating. Is this product safe for use on the top?
Other questions may include:
-Does Iron-X contain any solvents?
-Are there actually any ferrous contaminates embedded in this "glass" panel?


GM service bulletin 08-00-89-030 states, in part:

"...Polycarbonate surface and it has a very thin UV coat applied. This prevents the panel from crazing under the UV rays of the sun.
Notice: DO NOT allow any solvents to come in contact with the panel as this will damage the UV coating".


I never have used Iron-X, or any of its ilk, on any Corvette polycarbonate panels. Why risk it, I say.

Sure enough though...
These types of decontamination-systems' active-ingredients/residues will always
seem to drip onto headlight/taillight polycarbonate lens when being used.

HMMM...
Wonder if this would be the cause of any:
Premature UV-Protection-Failures...to the aforementioned polycarbonate-lenses?!?!

I would not think that you would want to risk it. Just tape off and protect from any overspray. No need to Iron-x polycarb or any other non-painted surface.
