View Full Version : Repairing Rock Nicks in Windshield

Hoping you folks can lend some answers...

Yesterday a rock nicked the windshield. Its not bad but unfortunately is directly in my line of sight. Its a small nick but I can feel it with my fingernail. Bottom line; it bugs me to no end--I'm a perfectly clean windshield kind of guy (yeah, its the cross I bear). Texas roads are notorious for this...

I don't have a PC but recently received the Polishing Pal. Wondering if there are any remedies. I did a search but couldn't find much.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Rick..thers is nothing that will polish out a chip....I tried..I have one also but not in my line of view...some glass companies offer a glass filling service that they fill it in ..but do not know how long it lasts.....some INS companies will replace the glass if it obstructs or hinders the view....yes just a chip....go to a glass company and see if it qualifies..they do it all the time....

you can polish out scratches...wiper trails...etching...but not chips.....

Hi Ricka

Like Al mentioned, ask your insurance or check the term and conditions.
It usually covers the rock chip repair for free because it is more convient for them to do that than replace the whole thing.

Most glass repairing shops even post that they will deal with your insurance to see if the insurance will cover the filling of the glass.

Good luck with it.

Thanks guys. My son has to get his windshield replaced due to hail so I'll ask the glass guys at that time.

An insurance company won't repair anything that is in the driver's direct view. It will impeed your visibility. They will only replace it.

Interesting. I always learn something on here.
Again, the "nick" is just that. It's very small and doesn't impede the vision--just irritates me.
I gotta quit being so anal. Is there an anal-anonymous?
If so, I believe many folks here would be charter members. :D
