I had the day off work today so I decided to give my car's grill some love. I didn't notice how bad it actually was until I went to clean some hitchhiking bugs off my grill the other day so what better time to DLux my grill than today.

Off to the pics:
Grill untouched:

Pretty bad....now off to cleaning. Each hole was cleaned with cotton swabs and 12% IPA. VERY TEDIOUS..SO MANY HONEYCOMBS!!!!

My "quick" project easily took 2 hours. Worst part is, I forgot there was one more grill underneath the license plate.

One thing I did learn is that when they said apply thin, they mean apply THIN. Some areas were a lot easy to buff off than other and took awhile longer to buff off the high spots.

Some missed spots I saw in the pictures were filled in.

Thanks for looking.

Just finished using DLux for the first time myself. Overall, I think it's a pretty solid product. Great look. Hopefully the durability will match.

Thanks for sharing! Great job on your "quick" project!

Wow, that looks like a lot of work. The grill looks great in the end though. I think the DLux will last a long time, it has been for me anyway.

My question is, did you ever apply any "dressing(s)" to that grill before this?

Nope, grill was never treated with anything when I purchased it and I am definitely sure the dealer wouldn't either after finding out how much time, effort, and patience is needed, that's why I figured an IPA cleaning is sufficient prep for DLux. This took much longer than I expected but I am more than happy with the results and my hard work paid off. Very happy with the product as well.

Wow thanks for the review. You're not a true "detailer" until you've detailed a honey comb grille with Q-Tips!

d-Lux is a great and durable coating. Price & performance make this a great value when compared to G|Techniq.

Thanks for pointing that out, I always assumed they were about the same price. I like C4 but it behaves differently on different surfaces, and mine is drying out in the bottle (other members have suggested I have micro-cracked my cap). I had always figured on giving DLux a shot next time, now I think I have to seeing the price diff.

Of course, I still haven't tried Opti-Lens on trim, that doesn't seem to be getting much play.

I paid $100 for 40 ml of Opti Lens. At that price, it will remain dedicated to lenses.

Ah, honey comb grilles are always tedious. I often overlook my own grille on my car and past vehicles. Nice results! So much blacker and sleeker looking. I'll have to clean my grille one day soon.

Haha yup. I completely overlooked them because I thought it wouldn't get bad. Patience is key for honeycomb.

Thanks all for the kind words.
