I cleaned and dressed the engine on my wife's 2008 Nissan Xterra last week and it turned out nice for a vehicle with this many miles. _- Marc

Wow that looks nice! I want to perform an engine detail but i'm scared I might spray water on sensitive parts of the engine! But good job there buddy! Mind mentioning the cleaners and dressings you used? :)

Thanks. Since I'm just starting this business I don't have very many products on hand so I used these products and this process to clean and dress the engine bay

*Simple Green * Armour All * Car Brite Spray N' Shine
After setting the hose nozzle to mist, I sprayed the engine with water, I sprayed Simple Green on engine bay and was careful not to get any on the fenders to avoid streaks to the paint. I let the Simple Green set for 2 minutes and sprayed it off with the shower setting on my hose nozzle. I then used a blower to dry the engine bay. After the engine was dry, I sprayed the engine bay with Armour All. I then used a terri cloth towel and wiped down every part of the engine and paint to remove all the dirt and grease including all the dirt under the hood. I then took Car Brite Spray N' Shine in an aerosol can on all rubber hoses and seals for a finished product. Total time under the hood was about 45 minutes -- Marc

Thanks and I do need to start taking before pics. The Xterra's engine bay had not been cleaned for a year and driven thru a West Virginia winter with lots of salt on the roads. The engine bay wasn't filthy but was dirty from winter driving with lots of salt residue and dust/dirt from the roads. I will start taking before pics for future posts --- Marc

I have learned there is such a dramatic difference on the before and pictures.

That alone has built me clientele... Either way awesome job.

Art, that is a great idea. As a Mobile Detailer it would be great to have a photo album of before and after pics to show clients -- Marc
