Question on tire dressings..

Hi ..

Now.... how do you apply tire dressings when it takes tires an hour or more just to dry after cleaning and washing them?

Wipe dry with a towel and then apply dressing.

Do you mean it takes the tire an hour to dry before you can apply dressing or it takes the dressing an hour to dry after application?

If it takes your tire an hour to dry... you are clearly not drying them lol, so either use a leaf blower and dry them in 30 seconds, or use an old bath towel and wipe them dry... then apply the dressing.

If you are using a tire dressing that takes an hour to dry, I would say you are using too much dressing! Gently remove excess dressing with a towel after your initial application and you should not have a problem anymore.

As noted, you can wipe them dry with a (terry) towel. However, if you are using a leaf blower or a Metro blower or similar for drying, that really helps to get water out of tread blocks, surface textures, and between the rim and tire so it dries quickly.

Optimum power clean is designed for car care, whereas 409 is general use APC.

That's like asking the difference between oil and gasoline. Both are very similar solvents, but you only want to run your car off of gasoline.

OPC is also safe on all surfaces whether it be interior, exterior, any type wheel, molding, plastic, tires. You can not say the same about 409. Also OPC is dilutable.

Forumla 409 is cheaper and I would guess Optimum smells better.

I actually looked into this briefly and it seems that household APC's are too harsh straight out of the bottle. Now if you dilute this down... who knows?

Would I use Forumla 409 on my car? Probably not because I would rather spend the extra $6 or so to have a peace of mind.

With both, you want to have safe practices. Gloves are a must.
