My brother-in-law purschased a 2013 Black GMC Sierra 2 months ago and put a coat of wax on it just 3 weeks ago, I told him he should have put a sealant on first and then a coat of wax. What do we have to do now to put a sealant on, wash the truck with Dawn detergent to get the wax off and then clay before putting on sealant, followed by a coat of wax? Any advice will be most appreciated, thank you in advance.

I'd seal it too if it were mine.
Once you remove the wax check out Griot's Paint Sealant, it's all I use and does hold up.
Plus it gives you an amazing shine then top it off with your choice wax.

I don't have a problem using Dawn from time to time but don't use it often because it's hard on the rubber seals, plastic trim but using it once surely won't hurt it.

Again, Griot's is a great sealant and cost is good too.

Good luck

I agree Hate Swirls (love the name btw :D)

Correct the paint then seal it

There's zero wrong with not laying down a sealant first. Most people like myself prefer a nice nuba, tell him to keep the wax on, or if not strip it and put another wax on. Waxes are more fun. But it's not mandatory you lay down a sealant first.
