Can I post here about boat cleaning?

Living in FL, our boat sits in the water year round. Monthly maintence on the hull keep the junk off it (luckily it is fresh water).

Every summer we run into a mildew issue. So im looking for some powerful mildew cleaners for vinyl.

Ive tried everything OTC and ammonia diluted solution and nothing seems to work. Can anyone suggest something stronger?

Thanks!

Ill post some pictures soon.

Amazing roll off if you have not already tried it.

I have not...

I also found these fans which might help reduce the growth...

Got amazing roll off yesterday and the Shurhold Moldaway Mold Remover...

The Amazing roll off def is a powerful cleaner. With the vinyl brush I was able to scrub some stuff off the seats and it seems to slowly be working...

Here is an after shoot after 1 application of Amazing roll off:

The stains are less dark, but it still is not removing everything ... Im starting to lose hope. Im leaving the boat in direct sun today (or at least until it starts to rain, damn you FL) as that also seems to help the mold / mildew.

The Mold Remover on the other hand, seems rather worthless. I will try it on the carpet later this week, but I have a feeling its a dudd of a product. I recommends 1 scoop per 32oz of water, and I went for 1 scoop and 19oz as that was the size of my spray and it did nothing. OH well...

This boat is in need of some major attention and we will be doing the hull later this weekend so I will keep pics and posts updated...

You have to get a vent for your cover

Let the boat dry completely before putting the cover on for an extended time

Make sure your cover has not lost it's water repellency. If it has; there are lots of good products out there to restore it. ScotchGard works, but you will use several cans.

You had to be careful...but. Magic Eraser will work miracles on vinyl, just don't scrub too hard and rinse completely as the abrasive particles will get into the seams and degrade the stitching over time.

I have a Baja Boss 232 for 10 years (similar to the Mike P. project boat).

Yup yup .... This isn't our first boat. We got some solar fan vents... The problem is not being able to dry the boat completely after using it. We use it everyday and that's fine it's when we leave it for a week that stuff gets gross.

Magic eraser ruins the protective layer so I try to stay away

I have found that if your vinyl looks like that....the "protective layer" is already long gone.

Be gentle with the Magic and then 303 after

Maybe try a dilute solution of bleach?

Of course, in an inconspicuous spot first.

Spray nine works very well to remove mildew. If you need something stronger you can go with diluted bleach. Try to keep it off of the stitching and rinse it out well afterwards. Don't just spray on and wipe off with these products either. Use a brush with dense bristles that aren't super stiff to agitate the cleaner then wipe off or spray off. Follow up with some 303.
I live in Florida too and have a sea ray 340. A lot of work to keep clean but I enjoy it.
