First Ever

[Excessive Detail]

Hey guyz. Well as the title indicates this was my first motorcycle detail. I admit I was a little nervous to do it, mainly cause I wasn't sure what could get wet, but the owner assured me that it was okay. It was actually a lot harder to detail that I thought, mainly do to all the chrome, which was rusted in some spotes and green everywhere else, and it has been sitting in a garage for the past year, that amazed me. Anyway, here it is.

The Ride:

Honda Motorcycle

The Process:

Wash: NXT, Purple Power, Foam Gun, Six Gallon Bucket, Brushes, Cobra MF Scrub Pad

Clay: DP and DP Clay Lube, I actually clayed all the chrome as well as the paint, it really helped get all the green stuff and some rust of the paint, needless to say that peice of clay was no longer usable after.

Dry: Craftsman Electric Blower and MF

Polish: Optimum Polish with Edge Orange Pad and finished with Poli Seal and Blue edge pad.

Wax: The paint is a very dark purple, in the pictures it looks blue, but since the color was so dark I could only think of one wax for it, Pinn. Soveran, two coats.

Chrome: Eagle One Wadding Polish, I actually bought a powerball for this detail, but quickly switched to the eagle one, I found the power ball very hard to use. I coated most of the chrome with Pinn Soveran after cleanin it. I managed to get about 95% of all the junk in the chrome out.

Looks great. Bikes have tons of nooks and crannies which are hard to work with. Do you think you can put spaces between your pics so they are vertical and not horizontal? It's very difficult to read your post.

Me too i will be doing my first bike ever soon. My dad's Yamaha Royal Star.

good thing to know that the powerball is not worth it as i was going to buy it too just for that job.

Did you spay the bike with PP or was it a mix with the soap for the foam gun?

Nice job. I know how hard it is to detail. That was the same color(I called it Blurple) of my bike before transformation.

Bikes are tough to detail. I just used the Mother's mini-powerball last week on my rims and it worked well. I'll post a review on that later. You did a nice job on that VTX. I'm not too sure about using souveran on chrome. I've always used a nice chrome polish/protector although recently I've been hitting my clean pipes with AW.

Looking forward to your review. My dad asked me to detail his bike, and another customer asked me to detail his bike also. And this guy's brother owns a nice chopper shop so I might have a few more bikes later. Problem is I never detailed a bike ever and I'm kinda nervous a little. I will detail my dad’s bike first and we’ll see

The chrome looks a little hazy. I probably wouldn't add wax to chrome anymore... it seems to take away from the shine. I would go with a straight chrome polish.

LOL Don't let the bikes scare you they're just hunks of metal. Now the Biker who owns it well that may be another matter. Most real bikers (not RUBs) are pussycats anyhow. Just don't mess up their bike and you'll be fine.
