Hi Ag, My friend just got a used car and his family got him an older jeep. I asked him If I can detail it and he said yes. Which is my point.
Whether your car is 20,000 or 200,000 you should be maintaining it.

I recently go my license, but was doing detailing before. Came in handy in the end. Out of the 300 or so kids in my grade its probably me and 5 others who care for their vehicle

Back to my question
Has anybody had experience with older jeep paint? I dont want to assume, but Im thinking soft to medium hardness for the clear? It will also probably need plastic restoration

After the proper wash technique and clay procedure, try the least aggressive product you have on an area.
What kind of Jeep and what color, how bad is the finish?
What are your or your friends expectations?
Mechanical maintenance is important too.
Post some photos after you're done.

I had a '99 Cherokee Sport. After clay I used the Megs microfiber system on the paint, turned out beautifully. You'll need to tape off the black trim, then restore that which can be a pain because it tends to turn light gray if not taken care of. After a good cleaning, UTTG restored the blackness & it lasted quite a while. If done right it's a big job but worth it.
