Huge rip off. Usually not as well done as if you did it yourself. Best case scenario is to take the new vehicle off the truck and deliver to you. No wash. No "package" applied. Nothing that gives them a chance to screw up your vehicle.

It's basically a $500 wax job. But most of them warranty the paint. I've heard of a lot of scams that have happened because of the fine print in the warranty though for many of these packages.

Don't do it. They will jack your paint.

Good old P.T. Barnum was right, "There's a sucker born every minute."

My Audi dealer once tried talking me into there paint protection upgrade. Claimed the car would hardly get dirty, it would protect the paint, I would never have to wax again, the ladies would love me even more, world peace, etc, etc ,etc. Thinking there might be the slightest chance they have a secret miracle product no one knows about I asked what products they use.

I don't think they ever figured out why I couldn't stop laughing. They wanted me to pay $700.00 for a Meguiar's sealant.

Come on guys!!! Those packages are called JOB SECURITY! It is invariable when I have a friend or friend of a friend that get the protection package, and see the final product (compared to my work), I always end up with the work to fix it!

Do I get it on my vehicles??? Heck no!!!! I don't want to give myself more work. You crazy? I get NOTHING from the stealership, not even a courtesy wash!

I clearly view them as nothing illegal....

But...
Everything about them just seems, to me, to be: Absolutely, morally gray.

However...
I can understand, if the same were to be said, perchance euthanasia were to be
performed on certain, unsuspecting, human-beings.

The Lexus dealer charges $800 for that same wax job. I think they call it Zylon.

What does warranty the paint mean exactly? I've never heard of a dealership where I live doing this. I know factories warranty their paint from any defects.

I would much prefer to see each of you keep those savings and pick some of the products of your choice to keep your ride looking showroom new.

Waste of money. I used to work for a dealership and had the lovely chore of applying this. Goes on just like wax. The warranty is what gets the customers to commit. Supposedly you are guaranteed against rock chips and paint damge. It sold for anywhere from $200 to $800.
