I just detailed a Sonata and the owner is a female, and there was make-up all over, embedded in the steering wheel, console, and dash. All that came out with some work, but on the outside of the door where she closes it, there's a stained area that I can not get cleaned. I tried APC, polish, and wax, and it still looks like this. Any ideas?

Had the same issue on a car I detailed for a woman being deployed and selling her car. Make up everywhere. Only thing that wold touch it was steam.

Makeup can be some harsh stuff when it sets in

I haven't tried it but maybe some sort of makeup remover to help break it down and hit it with steam as Robert suggested.

I haven't ordered the steamer yet....and I was afraid that would be the answer. Any other ideas? The owner's happy with it regardless, but it's bothering the heck out of me, as it would any perfectionist. :poke:

Just thought of something...how do the ladies remove make-up? Don't they use cold cream?

How about trying some, of course one may be stuck with trying to remove 'that', but it MAY be worth a try.

Cold cream is just an emulsion of water in fats (mostly mineral oil of I recall). Its nothing special, I don't think it will work. If it was me, I would try a tiny (drops) amount of Goo Gone.

Waterless hand cleaner?

I'm just thinking of anything possible.
