Blackfire Midnight Sun is pretty good. I never had an issues and its a nice WOWO product. To really make it look great and much added protection Blackfire Wet Diamond Paint sealant is excellent!

Would you care to list what attribute that you want a paste-wax to be best at providing?
Such as:
-Durability; Shine/Sheen/Gloss; "Protection"...?
(More often than not: Sacrifices must be made to have one attribute be "best" over another.)
Thanks.

What are you looking for? Looks or durability?
If you're on a budget, I would highly suggest getting these:
Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax
Pinnacle Signature Series II
Autoglym HD Wax

Here's a black car I did using Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax:

Here's a review I did on Pinnacle SSII:

If you're not looking for durability but want the best looks I would get:
Pinnacle Souveran (wait until it goes on sale - below $75)

You could try a coating like Wolfs Hard Body. Autopia sells that now. It may help keeping your black car free of marring and its in your price range. Also you won't have maintain it like a wax.
Although I can't say my one experience with Wolfs was a good one.
HB came to mind because its supposed to be easy to work with, but there are several others.

SSII and Fuzion 3oz are two of my favorite. Cant go wrong with either.
