wax / sealant over headlight casings?

Would putting wax or paint sealant over headlight casings and brake light casings have any benefit? Would it help slow down or prevent the yellowing that they normally get over time?

You'd be better off applying a coating made for polycarbonates, such as CQuartz DLUX (which is the current VIP sale of the week) or Optimum Opti-Lens.

Ya, I do realize that there are specific products for headlight and brake light casings but was just wondering if using a wax or paint sealant over them would also yield the same benefits or not? Maybe not as well, but if any at all.
