OK...bought a Makita, Porter Cable and a flex....I kept reading this forum and couldn't resist....when I get back home from Germany I'll have the tools.....will rely on this forum for the technique.......Im the MAN

What steps do you plan on doing? What techniques? And is this just for your car?

OK...I've got a black car that is a 2012 and has swirls for days that will be priority 1...I've also got a 2005 yellow and white boat...that needs attention.....I hear gelcoat can be a bear..........and I plan on practicing on my brother in laws farm truck.....if I mess up no worries on that......

Practicing on the Farm truck will be key. My advice is start with the PC and master it first. Then break out the Flex and master it. Then maybe the rotary.

That way you will learn how to use each tool and appreciate what they are capable of and when to use them.

If you skip learning on the PC, you will never use it. IT is a very useful tool and would be a waste to not use it.

I have all the same equipment. Prefer the Flex for most jobs, it's forgiving yet powerful. The PC and rotary also have their place as well, I just dont use them as much.

Nope, you still need to swing down to Italy and pick up a rupes 15 and 21. Seriously, I have five different polishers and use each one of them depending on the situation and my mood. Welcome to the world of making of making cars shine and AutoGeek rich!:buffing:

good thinking on the makita for the boat..gelcoat needs wool and a rotary - nothing else works...get some duragloss 561 and then move to an orbital and duragloss 501...
