This car belongs to my next door neighbour. I detailed it 2 years ago in July of 2011 HERE (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/38279-2010-lexus-hs250h.html). It now needed to be done again. This car I feature on my website for showing the durability of the OG after one year. I made another video showing it after 2 years after I had washed it (hopefully I will get that posted up soon). Unfortunately, every panel had some kind of mark on it, so the whole car got compounded and polished with a new coat of OG on it. The front bumper had been wrapped in a clear bra and had sustained a large scuff to it. I was able to really improve upon it, but not completely remove it. I had never tried buffing a scuff out of a clear bra before. In fact, I polished the entire clear bra area on the front of the car with great success. It also got coated. Here it is as it arrived to me.

One more thing. We have our good days and we have our bad days. This car came to me on an awful day. It was Day #2 for the "Headcold from Hell" and I was really suffering doing this car. It physically took a lot out of me. I'm still far from over this damned cold!! OK, on to the car..

BEFORES:

Lousy clear bra install shows in several places:

The Scuff:

This car had staining in the paint (coating) from the mirror dripping down. I was very disappointed to see the OG did not protect against this!

This was an Inside and Out job:

First up was the wash/decontamination stage. It first got foamed with a strong mix of DG 901 and Megs Hyper Wash.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t12/rhowitt/Detailing%20shots/DSC_0995.jpg (http://s156.photobucket.com/user/rhowitt/media/Detailing%20shots/DSC_0995.jpg.html)

That was followed by a wash with DG 901. I followed that step with an additional wash with IronX soap gel applied directly to a grout sponge. It was brought inside wet and the wheels were blown dry with my Master Blaster. The paint (excluding the clear bra) and glass got clayed with the CarPro clay block and dried. Now it was time to see what was waiting for me on the paint:

Paint Correction:

The entire driver's side had scratches on each panel. I started there. I was using either M105 or Perfect Finish on a black TB wool pad + my Dyna. I was amazed at how well the TB wool + PF was finishing down! I was actually able to go from that to M205 and a white B/S pad on my Rupes. To check my work and to prepare for the coating, I followed that up with a quick pass of DG SC and a blue B/S pad on my Rupes at speed 4. Boy the paint on this thing is nice when it's all done up! Many, many hours later I then moved on to coating the wheels, paint and clear bra and lights with OG.
The windshield was done with Optimum Pro Glass Coating.
The trim was done with CarPro DLux.
The clear bra was polished with the Rupes and a white B/S pad and PF. That was followed by a 4" blue pad on my rotary and M205. There had been visible swirl marks in it before. Gone.

Interior:

The plastic and leather was cleaned with my awesome AG Interior pad + Opt Power Clean at 4:1. That was followed up with UIGP. The carpets were vacuumed and the rubber mats were sprayed with an aerosol tire cleaner and wiped clean. The glass was cleaned with the KD/CarPro glass cloth.

The tires were shot via air gun with DG Wet Shine and leveled with a tire applicator.

I think it was 16 hours later to get to this point....

AFTERS:

Great work as always Richy! :xyxthumbs:

I must say though, the fit & finish / panel gaps on that car leave a lot to be desired. Especially for a Lexus.

Thanks David, I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Dave, it's been hit in a parking lot, so the front clip doesn't line up like it should. If you click on the link in the first line to when I did it the first time, you can see the difference in the panel alignment there. The other gaps all seemed to be fine to me.
And, thank you Sir!

Great turnaround Richy !
Thanks very much.

Great work, may I ask what you did with the chips that you mentioned?
Thank you. Yes, I have a spray can of straight black (it's actually GM black, but for fill-ins, it works) and I shoot a small amount on a plastic lid and fill the chip with either a micro brush (PM me if you want a link from Ebay-they rock!) or a pointy toothpick depending on the size of the chip. I do that after the polishing, before coating.

Great job, Richy! Hope you get over your cold soon.
Thanks, I've stayed home and hibernated for 2 days. I think I am getting over it now. 5 days later.

Bloody cold meds! LOL. Thanks. You'd think I'd know that seeing it's the 2nd time I've worked on it!!

Mike, thank you for the kind words. I learned a lot over the years by reading what products, pads, machine and technique people used that was different to mine and I hope others can pick up similar things from reading mine. To me, it's not just about sharing your work (although that is fun) but it's also about seeing what works and why.

Great work and feel better!
Thank you on both accounts!!
