Since I've been Detailing again. People have started contacting me. Mostly paint correction since that's what I specialize in.

A family member contacted me and wants me help him get his paint looking
even better than it already does, his car just got painted.
(He finally stopped using Dawn soap, cos of me) lol

He doesn't want it polished just washed and clayed,

I told him we could mask it it to further enhance the shine and hide the light swirls.

I explained the processes to him and showed him the Rx7 and the red Prius and also explained that this is not proper fix, just hiding the very light swirls.

I am going to

Wash
Clay
Meguiar's no.7
Menzerna power lock
Then Poor boys natty's, collinite 476s or Pinnacle waterless with carnauba for the final wipe. (Any suggestions?)

It's a family member so it's just a free favor, but my question is. If i did all these steps for a customer's car that doesnt want to pay for paint correction,

how much would you charge?

This is why I got the idea of a spray glaze

With all these steps, i could just do paint correction, but this is what he wants,

however if it were a customer's car, i would just use no. 7 and some Power Lock

Fellow Detailer's please continue to educate other Detailer's

I wouldn't put PL over an oily glaze (Megs), go straight to wax if you want to use glaze.

Thank you Mr. Wheelz, isn't possible to let No. 7 cure for 24 hours then apply PL? (Just wondering)

I'm going to go buy a spray bottle and attempt, mixing no. 7 with water, to see what happens lol

Why wouldn't you put powerlock over a glaze?

Why wouldn't you put powerlock over a glaze?

Meg's No 7 is high in oils, works great with waxes and Megs sealants (synergy) and some sealants (BFWD).

Paint free of oils is best for sealants or at least an Acrylic based glaze.

Why wouldn't you put powerlock over a glaze?

Power lock has to be applied to clean paint with nothing on the paint.

Some people don't want paint correction, they just want "shiny"

So no. 7 and Collinite it shall be.

Thanks guys,

I'll just throw in no. 7 as part of my quick wash package.

Wash
Clay
No. 7
Collinite

In that case I would give it the ole 1 - 2 combination. Meguiars 105 - 205 and be done with it

Glazes are for lazy ppl and those who don't know what they are doing

BTW Drop the Mr. Last person to address me that way tried to screw me

From http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-make-money-detailing-cars/58359-how-use-one-step-cleaner-wax-maximize-profits.html

Tip: Have a detailing package for everyone
Regardless of how much this car is worth on the market, the owner doesn't know the difference between a squirrel or a swirl and didn't want to pay a lot to have it cleaned up. As a detailer you need to have a package for everyone to suit their needs, not yours. Or walk away and move onto greener pastures.

Newbie Mistakes
I see a lot of people new to car detailing that perform multiple step procedures to create a show car finish but at the end of the day have so much time, labor and materials into the job that they end up working for peanuts.

So work smarter, not harder and to do this start by evaluating your customer first and match your services to their needs, not yours.
