Hi Everyone,

I'm currently using Optimum Car Wax as a drying aid and an extra pop over my opti-coat.

What I'm looking for is more shine to the finish (economically if possible) after a wash. I wash my car once every 2 weeks to a month depending on weather.

From my searching, there are good reviews using reload on top of opti-coat. But for $20 more, I can get a gallon of V7 which I can also use as drying aid. Durability wise I don't think V7 will outlast OCW, but does V7 add more shine than OCW?

Opti-seal was another product I have looked up but out of stock at my local detailing shop.

Please let me know your experiences with either reload or V7 on top of opti-coat

Thanks!

Going off my humble opinion - seeing as how OC is a coating that is not friendly to 'toppers', i.e. that anything put over OC will not experience durability as great as applying to bare paint, I would use the less expensive option - V7.

Reload has been designed to work with Cquartz, but CQ is not the same type of coating as OC.

YMMV.

i use V7 on top of OC when drying. you will notice the added shine by V7 for a few days then it will die down. i've never used reload to top OC so i can't say anything about it.

Reload works very well with OC. Also a VERY small amout of Reload goes a VERY long way!! You will get much better durability with the silica based product (Reload) than a traditional spray sealant. I use Reload with all coatings I apply (e.g. CQ, CQ Finest, OG, OC).

"Synergy" aside:

If you don't want to stay with OCW...........@$49.99/gal.

There's either of these Meguiar's products:
M34 Final Inspection................................@$29.99/gal.
D155 Final Touch.....................................@$19.99/gal
D156 Synthetic XPress Spray Wax..............@$31.99/gal.

Your two selections:
-CG's V7 (current discount price ?)..............@$38.99/gal.
-Reload............................................ .....@$229.99/5L/1.32 gal.

As so noted:
It's been stated, many times over, that no "topper" will last very long atop the Optimum 'Coatings'...
except for, perhaps, another film-layer of one of their 'Coatings.

In the "Final" analysis, though: Your choice.

I don't use wax or sealant based products to top Opti-Coat because they negate the stay-clean and anti-dust attraction properties of Opti-Coat.

The only toppers I would use would be:

1. Optimum Instant Detailer and Gloss Enhancer (Get the concentrate)
2. Carpro Reload (As DARKHORSE said a little goes a long way)
3. Permanon Platinum

I feel that these three would best keep the much desired OG 2.0 properties intact.

BTW I know the Optimum Instant Detailer uses polymers but it is still supposed to repel "Dirt, dust, oil, and grime".

With my local provider, these are the prices available to me:

Reload (400ml) - $29.99
V7 (1 gallon) - $52.99
Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer Concentrate (32oz) - $21.99

The meguiar's products mentioned by Bob are not carried them unfortunately

Having used v7 & ReLoad, I reach for Reload for real lasting protection. Reload has good beading and lasting protection.

If you simply want one as a post wash drying aid I would suggest Opti or V7. They will help aid in drying and add temporary slickness between washes.

I use reload on top of opticoat. Get a 4oz sample bottle with spray top from AG to help apply it lightly, the bottle it comes it squirts way too much. Also using a microfiber applicator pad works well.

Hey sears, I'm actually in Canada so I don't have access to Autogeek without border fees.

How long have you found reload to last on top of OC during summer conditions?

I may opt to pick up Opt Instant Detailer + Reload instead of V7.. since its the same cost at end of the day

You can get a similar spare bottle from Target, I think you guys have those in Canada now. They are usually on the travel size aisle in stores.

I get about 1 week of slickness and increased shine, depends on weather though. It's hard to use beading as a measure because OC beads so well.

I totally agree here....

however, to keep the costs affordable, skip the permanon and do carpro's HydrO2...i just topped my OC'd highlander and wow! and super slick...

heres a couple pics...
