okay so this is my first time using a buffer to compound and polish. The vehicle I am working on is a 2004 Chevy 2500HD Silverado. The color is a dark green metallic. The drivers side bed panel has been repainted an isnt the best job. The clear has started to fail and a spot the size of a quarter has chipped off. This usto be a work truck so the bed has ALOT of rids and swirls. I dont plan on removing all of them only make the truck look better since my brother lent it to me for the week.

The products im using is orange flat pads and white flat pads.
m105 and m205. I am having no trouble with the m105 drying out or dusting which I have heard alot about. I compounded the truck and checked with my LED and I can see the swirls are gone but there is hazing, I then hit it with m205 on a white pad an it reduced it but didnt get rid of it.

Any ideas? I will post pictures tomorrow.

Rotary? DA? How much pressure with the 205? How many passes? What speed? I've always been able to get rid of any haze with 205... You doing an alcohol wipe to check?

When I use m105 or m205 I work in small area's and wipe it off right away after it's been applied. try using a little less product also. Not sure on your pads but I use meg's red for 105 and yellow for 205.

4 passes with light pressure and a PC isn't enough. Use more pressure and try 6 passes. On your last pass ease up on the pressure. LC white pads with M205 should be good. There red and grey are good for waxes and sealants or soft paint.

DAs require moe pressure than rotary buffers. As mentioned keep your work area small no larger than 2X2 and focus on repeatable technique. Work clean. Your reprinted panel will react differently so goe easy on it. Good luck.

I agree. You need at least medium pressure to remove any type of defects most of the time with a PC. 6 passes is the magic #. But it all depends what you are working on, and what the paint is like on that day.

Crank up the speed. Speed 4 on a PC does not have much correction power.

Ok so I went back and tried again with the m205 and more pressure an it came out great! Thanks for the advice. As soon as I can get photobucket to work I will be posting pictures.

Agree...I use speed 6. I had a hazing problem also with my PC and WG products. I moved from 5 to 6 and did 6 passes and that solved the problem!!

Thats a good looking truck!! You will quickly realize how big it is when doing a full detail. Take your time and do it over a couple of days if you have to. Mine took about 16 hours total. I didnt want to get fatigued and have to repeat areas!!

the paint is done. took me about 12hrs to complete over 3 days. I still want to polish the wheels but will save that for another day. This truck is my younger brothers an it really makes me appreciate my nissan altima coupe lol
