Detailed this 750il today. Really nice car: V12, leather throughout with some very nice stitching. Today was exterior only but hopefully the customer will return and I can tackle the interior.

This was really tough work. After washing I saw it was covered with severe swirls. I did not get this car completely swirl-free due to time constraints, and let the customer know. But considering the severity of the marring and the time I had I was happy with the work.

Process was...

Wash w/ BHB and foam gun. DP extreme foam
Sonus green clay
OHC @ 1500 - multiple passes on worst areas
OP @ 1100
Prime
AJT
DP tire gel
Armor All wheel wells.

After OHC - couldn't get rid of the pitting:

After two passes of OHC. You can see there's still some marring, and I hated having to move on to other areas while leaving it this way. But I had to address the rest of the car due to time constraints. The final pass of OP improved it a bit as well:

And some full afters - sun was going down, but I tried to get some hood shots best I could:

I really like this picture, just look how solid the colour looks  very impresive.

Question what is causes "pitting"? What is "pitting"? Can you get rid of "pitting"?

Sorry for all the questions but just curious. I enjoy the work you do thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Nica!

Actually I've never really given the name pitting much thought!

I guess more accurately I'm referring to the knicks and dings from daily driving that haven't actually chipped the paint through to the primer or metal, but have created enough of a "pit" in the paint that I can't polish them out. That's what those dots are on the after of the hood.

oh...mmm...interesting...becuase I noticed some fine little dots and I mean fine really have to get close to the paint to see it....almost looks like pores on the surface of the paint....I just assumed it was normal.

Thanks for the info.

Great job Sevenrd! That paint did look pretty bad in spots.

that's an incredible turn around!! that car is sleek. you really brought some life back to the exterior of that car. if you ever want to get to the nitty gritty of removing swirls and what not, you should start with a true-cut compound and a wool pad, don't know if they carry those for PC's but i have 2 sets with my cyclo, im actually going to post a car i did a 7 step paint restoration on, no before pics but afters are great
