Hello everyone,

I'm new to this site and apologize if this questions has been asked beforew which I'm sure it has. I just a purchased a 2013 Acura TSX Special Edition (Black). I would like to maintain it nice and clean so I need your advice on what products to get for exterior and interior detailing. I also own a 2007 Toyota Sequoia (Black) which it desperately needs a full detailing job. Because I'm new to detailing the products I purchase I will be using them on the Sequoia then when I feel confortable I use the Acuras.

Thank you in advance for all your feedback.

You should purchase Mike Phillips book sold here on Autogeek called "The art of detailing" that would be a great starting point, plus you will have the book forever and you will not have to browse the internet to find every answer to every question you have, so much easier for newbies starting out.

Hey Al

Here is an article on how to detail and maintain you new vehicle:
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/54451-how-detail-your-brand-new-car-mike-phillips.html

If your Toyota has scratches and swirl marks and you want to remove those then at the minimum you with need a Dual Action polisher. Don't be afraid though because these machines are very user friendly and very safe.

You need to determine the condition of your paint first and foremost:
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/38689-what-condition-paint-your-vehicles.html

Next you will want to check for above surface contamination. This contamination will give your paint a very rough and grit like feeling. This grit will reduce the amount of gloss that you can achieve but that's ok it can be removed by clay.

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/43190-gloss-starts-first-smooth-surface.html

Here is an easy test to do to check for the above surface contamination. It's called the Baggie Test:
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/27967-baggie-test-how-inspect-above-surface-bonded-contaminants.html

Once you have done the test then what you need to do is get some clay and lube to remove the contamination. This is all explained here by Mike Phillips:

That will give you a start! Also can you post photos of your vehicle is your current condition!
