Hello and welcome to AGO!

For headlights depending on how bad they are they could need sanded but using the proper tools and technique is key.

Do you have any photos you can share of you headlights that you want to fix?

Here is a an article you will want to read through to get an understanding of the process and the tools used.

-tape off edges of car as to not sand the paint
-clean headlights with either QD, WW, RW, etc..
-1500, 2500, and if you want 3500
-wash lens again
-m105 with semi agressive pad (or equivalent)
-m205 with polishing pad (or equivalent)
-seal or coat

Thanks for the fast reply ...

I'm sorry I do not have pics, I'm at work..

So if the lens aren't that bad I should use a higher grit sandpaper like 3000

And thanks for the link

I've gotten the best results from Symtech's Bright Solutions (http://symtechcorp.net/index.php/headlight-cleaner-kit/) kits. I've tried the Diamondite (http://www.diamondite.com/product-line/clear-plastic-pro-kit.html) kit, but revered to using Symtech's products for headlights that are severely degraded. Good luck.

Without seeing a pic, it's kind of hard to judge what grit you need to start at, etc.
