Hi guys
So I just got my Rupes 21 today. I also got the 5in bp to go along with it. I took it out and tried a meguiars buffing pad with the 6 in bp and it tore the Velcro off the back of the pad when I tried it out. Is this normal? Should I not use the meguiars pads with the Rupes? Also is anyone else having a problem getting the nut off to switch the bp? I cannot get it off. I tried for an hour and it did not budge. Any advice on that.

For the nut, hold the backing plate very hard and push the allen screw with your arm. It took me a few minutes of pushing really hard to get it off.

Funny you mentioned that because it also happened to me. I tried the Meguiar's Softbuff 2.0 pads on the 6" BP of the 21ES and it tore where the edge of the BP met. This is because the BP has a very sharp edge and the Meg's Softbuff 2.0 has a recessed edge. I would highly suggest using a flat velcro surface like the LC flat, MF pads or the Rupes 7" pads. Don't use recessed pads like the Meg's because the Rupes BP will eat it up alive.

Thanks for the info Marc. That's kinda disappointing. I was hoping to still be able to use my pads. I have about 7 of each. Hopefully I can find someone to trade with me. Oh well. At least I have my MF pads

BnS pads have the strongest velcro/glue that I have found. I would try those instead of the megs pads. The rupes pads are surprisingly good too.
