Hey Everyone,

So I've been doing some (what I consider to be) good work on other people's cars lately but haven't had a chance to fully correct mine. I just got a 2007 328xi BMW that had swirls and scratches galore. I ordered the M105/205 combo but now after reading more I'm hearing horror about holograms and 205 not finishing well?

I will most likely be replacing the hood and front bumper in august so I did some testing on the hood and got what seemed to be decent results using Pinnacle Advanced Finishing polish and great results with Meguiars ultimate compound.

Here are before and afters from just the polish (yes I know they are terrible):

After:

And now the compound, again excuse that it is a picture of a picture, my card reader crapped out:

AFTER:

I think the compound gave a great result, is it possible it doesn't need to be polished? It seems to have a deep shine without being polished, if it does what should I follow up with and on what pad?

I used the compound on an orange css pad, is that too much?

Thanks for the help,
Scott

Really? 205 finishes down great. I would think that maybe the stories you hear are about M105 dusting or rotary holograms or Micro marring with M105 but those can certainly be removed with M205 on a DA with a policing of finishing pad.

You can always follow up with M205. Its always best to do a test spot as every paint is unique. Dial in you process on a test spot and you should be good on the rest of the car.

Depends. what results did you see and following up with a finishing polish and a polishing pads wouldn't be a bad idea. Again test sot is your friend. Always start with your least aggressive method and check your results. Its always easier to increase aggressiveness than to decrease it :dblthumb2:
