Detail Lamborghini Gallardo - Wheels, Wheel Wells and Brakes

The Plan: Detail Dirty Stuff

The Stuff: Wheels, Wheel Wells and Brake Calipers

Products To Implement The Plan: P21s Wheel Cleaner, Poorboys SS&S, Mothers Aluminum Polish, DP Cleanse-All Exterior Cleaner, DP Wheel Glaze, Klasse AIO and Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant.

Wheel Steps: Pull off wheel / spay wheel with P21s Wheel Cleaner / rinse wheel and wash with Poorboys SS&S, clean aluminum on inside of wheel with Mother's Aluminum Polish, 2 coats of DP Wheel Glaze on Aluminum. two coats of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant on Black Powder Coated center of wheel.

Brake Caliper Steps: Spray with DP Cleanse-All Exterior Cleaner, wash with soapy water, dry with air compressor, 1 coat Klasse AIO, 2 coats Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant.

Wheel Well Steps: wash with soapy water, 1 coat Klasse AIO then 2 coats of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant.

I started about 7:30 am and quite about 3:00 pm. I only completed 3 wheels, wells and calipers. I'll probably to the last front wheel tomorrow. I don't think I set any speed records but it is quite a bit of work. :(

Details like that make a well kept driver an extremely well kept one. Now go and get a wider tire for that 11" rear wheel. I have seen Pilot sports (345) rears on the gallardo and it looks sweet. 295's are a little undersized in my opinion.
This is all assuming its your car which Im assuming it is since its in your avatar.

Looks like you have quite a project out there, Gary! Nice WORK! Do the last wheel, then on to driving it. Man, I love your Lambo!

Gary, How many miles do you have on that Lambo? Always a pleasure to see your vehicles!

Thanks for all the complements guys. Do you think I should detail the bottom of the car next???

Chris, The Gallardo only has about 4,200 fun miles on it.

Ed, I had the Gallardo out on the road yesterday. When I got home it was covered with splatter love bugs. I washed it and put it in the garage. The love bugs are so bad right now I hate to drive any of my cars.

Truls, yea I know I'm an autogeek.

Klumzypinoy, it is a lot of work taking and wheels off and clean everything.

Thanks Al417 and supercharged, Jdm.

DatDude, The Viper has 345 Pilot sports on but does not handle nearly as good as the Gallardo. I love the all wheel drive on the Gallardo.

The wheel areas look brand new. Love the colored calipers. It's hard to take my eyes off the reflections that you have on that paint long enough to see what you've done.
Stupid Question: How do the wheels attach?

Gary Sword

Jimmie, the wheels are attached with lug bolts that go through the brake disk and screw into the hub. There is a lip on the brake disk that holds the wheel on it until you can screw in the bolts.

Gary,

Very impressive! That sounds and looks like a hard day's work indeed. But your results appear to be well worth the effort. That is a work of art and you made it a darn clean work of art!

Nice review Gary. That something most of us overlook. Thanks to you we have a better outlook and choice of great products to use. That Lambo is glows even in that shady garage!
