After detailing my car with a buffer and looking at it in the sun the finish looked smeary! I read that there are multiple reasons why! What is most liking my problem?

Need more details, machine? Which polish or wax,or even compound?
Pads? Paint condition? Process?

I would say either polish or wax.
Either too much or too long.

Are you switching to a new MF towel frequently? I typically use 1 towel for 1 panel and then switch to a new, clean towel. The ensures that my towels are picking up the product and not smearing it around once they are loaded with spent product.

More details would be great though...

What products are you using? What is your exact technique? Are you doing an IPA wipedown? Etc Etc

I've had similar issues after using Meg's gold class in the past, at least from what it sounds try either an IPA wipedown or just even water in a spray bottle with a clean MF has fixed mine.

Does the smeariness look anything like this?

I used 1 towel for the entire car! That was one of the reasons I read in an article and knew I made a mistake!

Steps I did: Clay Bar Entire Vehicle, Wolfgang Swirl Remover with orbital buffer, Wolfgang Finishing Glaze with orbital buffer, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant with Orbital Buffer, Hand Waxed with Meguiar's Gold Class Carnauba Plus

No, I didn't do a IPA wipe down! Never heard of it until now!

Don't worry your not alone. AG has completely changed me for the better.
Do an IPA wipe down then see what happens.

(APA is Diluted Isopropyl Alcohol )
