I just bought a Griot's 6" DA. It comes with a 6" backing plate. I posted a couple of questions on what pads and backing plates to
use. I talked to Meguiar's about what products to use for my vehicles and situation. They recommended Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and Gold Class Carnauba Plus, which is what I will use. They recommended the W8006 Soft Buff pads. Several people here recommended the LC Hydrotech 5.5" x 7/8" pads, SO, the questions I have are: should I stay with the Meguiars W8006 6' da pads? And if so what size backing plate should I use? Can I use the 6" Griots backing plate? OR should I buy the 5.5" x 7/8" LC pads, and what size backing plate should I buy for this? Advice will certainly be appreciated, as I am about to go crazy! Thanks.

If you use Megs pads the stock gg plate is fine. 5.5 in pads require a 5 in plste

I have the g110 and I use the soft buff 2.0 pads with a 6.5" backing pad and I have no issues. The GG has more than enough power for the 6" pads.

Personally I think the 5.5" pads are big enough for most any car. 6" pads aren't much different and you already have the correct backing plate. I started with a PC and the 5.5" pads were about the largest that buffer could use. I liked that size so much I stayed with it for all my buffers Flex 3401 and rotaries.

You will want to get a smaller backing plate and some smaller pads like 3 to 4" in size. Today's cars have more small areas to get into than huge flat panels.

Try a couple pads to see what you like. My preference is Lake Country and CG.
