The clear coat on one of my doors started peeling, so I took it back to the dealer to have it warrantied. Went back to pick it up, to find the paint just completely hammered. I brought out the body shop manager to take a look. One of the fenders had just been painted a little over a month before this, and it looked one of the worst. You will see from the pictures the door they just repainted didn't look any better.

His response was "Well it is a black car, so that will happen." Guy was a d*ck to deal with. Offered to buff it himself. I didn't want them touching the car any further.

Used a GG6, Uber Pads, Megs MF pads
Menz FG400
Wolfs S&S
Wolfs HB
1Z Vinyl and Rubber

I washed, deconed, and clayed the car. Since I had clayed not long ago, didn't pick up much.

Swirls all over the car, with some deeper scratches. Some are cell pics and some are from my Nikon.

Some before shots:

Shot of the door that was just repainted because of clear coat peel:

So as you can see, the paint was swirled and scratched like crazy. In all, it took me about 18 hours, not including the final wash/wipedown/lsp.:pc:

After a couple passes, starting to get a little better:

In the end, there are still a couple deeper scratches that would take a lot more work, and I wasn't comfortable trying to go that deep. Overall, I am happy with the results, but wish I would have never let the dealer touch my car.

It looks like ran your car through the Swirl-O-Matic about 50 times. Yikes! Great turn around though, fantastic!

Nice recovery. I would have been pissed if this happened to my car. You should send him a bill at $60/HR for the time you spent correcting the damage they induced.

I have been in contact with corporate and the dealer. No response yet from the dealer, and Chrysler said they could do nothing to help me since it wasn't a warranty issue.

The dealer is about an hour way depending on the horrible traffic up that way, but I will be making the drive here soon.

Now, you take it back to the guy and show him what paint is supposed to look like.

Awesome recovery man. Sorry that had to happen to you! And the manager sounds like he needs some AGO :buffing:

Nice recovery. That paint was brutal.

He really had to be ignorant to try and pass you off like that.

Great Job! I also have a 2011 black 300C. When I go to the dealer for anything I make them write in big black marker DO NOT WASH!!! They think they are doing people favors by scratching up their cars. Again, nice recovery.

My jaw dropped as well! I had a black car and never had that big of an issue on such a new car either. Great save! :dblthumb2:

It looks like they scrubbed that door with a steel brush...
