I recently purchased a black 2013 Toyota Avalon Touring. I've never had a new car or a black car. I plan to wash, clay, wash, meguiars ultimate wax then meguiars 26. Does anyone have any suggestions or critiques?

Are you using UW of the paste or liquid form?
The liquid form tends to streak a little if you let it dry too long.
Meg recommends only 2-3 minutes before wiping off. If it does streak... no biggie. Just apply with UW again and wipe it right off.

I'm using liquid for UW and paste for 26.

As a owner of a black car also I have one suggestion. SELL IT!!!!

J/K

If the paint is in good condition I would do the following:

For black car I recommend washing with Megs d114 Rinseless, and maintain with a sealant spray like Wolfgang Spritz or Blackfire Polyspray, and every two month apply Blackfire Crystal seal or Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid seal.

Here’s the links to the products I have mentioned:

BLACKFIRE Deep Gloss Spray Sealant, spray wax, paint sealant spray (http://www.autogeek.net/blackfire-spray-sealant.html)
BLACKFIRE Crystal Seal Paint Sealant 8 oz. (http://www.autogeek.net/blackfire-crystal-seal-8.html)

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal, paint sealant (http://www.autogeek.net/spray-on-paint-sealant.html)
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant (http://www.autogeek.net/wolfgang-deep-gloss-spritz-sealant.html)

Meguiars Rinse Free Express Wash, rinseless car wash, no rinse (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-rinsefree-express-wash.html)

If youre on a budget just wash it good, clay, and toss on some collinite 845. If you have money to spend then the list goes on and on..

How far are you trying to take this? Does your plans include correction work?

It's brand new so hopefully I won't need correction work. I was going to was it with megs gold wash and shampoo then touch test for paint impurities. If needed I would clay with Megs smooth clay kit. Wash it again the ultimate wax and finally top off with Meg's 26.

Does it have zero swirls?

And finally maybe the opti-coat?

I won't have time to really inspect it and start detailing until the 18th. What is opti-coat?

Sent you a PM

If you do go opti-coat you have to make sure the paint is perfect before you put it on and make sure it is surgically clean.

Ask them cos some might know a lot more than i do about this.
