So it was time once again for me to detail my buddy's wife's Scion xB, love the color on this ride! The car is garage kept, well, used to be before my buddy bought a 79' RX-7 so its pretty clean, no before and after pics as I'm using a camera phone AND there were no swirls in the paint, enjoy the pics!

Products used:

-DG rinseless wash
-Griot's clay bar
-DG #501 w/601
-Collinite #845

-Optimum mf pad for the bumpers and tight areas
-GG 6" orange pad
-GG 6" red pad
-GG white and yellow removal mf towels

-Alien clean for the hubcaps
-Bleach White for the tires
-GG foaming sprayer
-DP tire gel

Here's the buckets after the wash, didn't look THAT dirty but goes to show you, you never know!

Went to a local cruise night last night and snapped up some interesting rides, especially that Caddy wagon, pretty cool and yes, its just as nice inperson as it is in that pic! The ZL1 Camaro is cool and the car just has a "presence" about it, hard to explain, not a fan of the new Camaro but there's just something about THAT one (would rather have a GT500 for the record) Then there's that 57 fuelie....AND it had the 4 spd, not 3 spd, very, very cool indeed!

Back to xB though, I'm doing a little experiment and it goes like this, the entire car got treated to DG 501/601 and Collinite #845 EXCEPT the roof, just wanted to see how well DG 501/601 holds up this year, so we'll see how that goes, especially now that this car is outside 24/7 while the RX-7 is put together in the garage, can't wait to detail that one, its painted the pearl red from the Mazdaspeed 3 and 6:props:

That is definitely an interesting color. I can't decide if I like it or hate it. :) You did a great job nonetheless! I like the "plugged in" analogy.

Is it me or does the pic saying "no swirls to be found" actually have swirls.....

I don't see em' and inperson I can assure you that when you look at the sun on the hood there's NO rings around the reflection.

They've got a couple LOUD colors for special edition xB's, one's a purple and there's a smurf blue and the original xB has a bright green too.

The color is love it or hate it for sure but tip of the cap to Scion for going outside the box and offering an actual color for a car, what a concept!

:iagree: They are quite visible...

I don't know if you use that sponge on the paint: if you do, I would advise against it :dblthumb2:

Nice job. It's one of those colors that works on very few cars anyway. The xB is one of the most awful exterior vehicle designs in recent memory, and that color makes it even more painful to look at (no offense to the xB lovers out there...there's a car for every taste).

A color like that belongs on a sleek, provocative car. I can imagine it looking great on a '63 split window vette with custom wheels.

Anyway, kudos to the xB owner for keeping it in such great shape (and in hiding, LOL).

I guess I'll have to look at it again as I was standing right over the top of the hood when I took the shot and just don't see it. When I walk around and look at car's hoods and see the sun in the hood and then there's orbits all around the sun, just don't see em' here but then again I'm no pro. What am I missing here?

I've been looking at the pic, although on my phone, which is what I used to take the pics you see and I see a glare coming off the top but nothing like what I see in every parking lot I go to, that's for sure.

After I washed the car I only saw "marks" in the paint on the rear hatch and those came out with the 3" GG w/mf pad. I would've used something more aggressive but I didn't bring my Meg's UC or M101 with me as I've seen the vehicle recently and didn't see the need for paint correction, this is why I used DG #501/601 after claying, just to clean things up a bit and there was brown spots on my orange pad afterwards, so it did what I needed it to do there.

As far as the sponge goes, well, I've been using the Aqua sponge for over a year now and that paticular one in the bucket is newer than mine. I wash mine out good after every use, take it in the shower to clean it out. Its very poures and soft, used to use a mf wash mitt but like the Aqua sponge alolt more.

I should also take the time to say that DG #501/601 really made the paint look great, looked very wett and I left just the DG combo on the roof, no Collinite there and I did this to see how it holds up on its own.

I know it may look like I'm taking offense to this but I'm not, seriously but that's one shot in the sun after I was done with the car and with my own 2 eyes I didn't see swirls in the paint.

Glowing Toaster. Looks nice.

I especially like the pic of the buckets. I like to show people who question why I use the 2BM.

It has elements of a toaster but not like the 1st gen, that's for sure! My buddy actually painted the hubcaps and you can't see it in the pic but there's a ittle metallic in the paint he used, very unique finish, almost a brown actually.

Yeah the 2 bucket method is THE way to go and like I said in the 1st post, it didn't look THAT dirty but it was. The dirty bucket isn't a 5 gallon version though, its a little smaller, maybe a 3 but I filled it up about 3/4 of the way.
