Hello AG, I am wondering which BP is "best suited" for 5' Meg MF pads, and which one for 5.5' foam pads. I am hoping for a bp with "almost" exact fitment around the edges when attached with a pad, and the bp need to be stiff, and sturdy, not easily bendable. Thank you in advance.

Jason Rose is one of the sharpest detailers I've ever met period. He's also the Product Manager for the Professional Line at Meguiar's and you trust that he's already scienced out the best fitment and design for backing plates for Meguiar's pads.

In my how-to book I recommend using backing plates and pads from the same manufaucture for this exact reason.

Look on page 53 of the second edition of my how-to book under the heading,

KISS = Keep it Simple Simon

And you'll find my recommendation.

I always thought that Meguiar's recommends the W67DA and has
said that it is: The "best suited" backing plate for their 5" MF pads.
(This backing plate's diameter is 4.75 inches.)

Although there's not much of a 'safety-margin'...
I don't see why it wouldn't also work for 5.5" foam pads.

thx Mike and Bob. I was using the original BP on my Meg DA because I just moved to a new house 2 months ago and I never got a chance to use it yet before. When I attached the meg mf pad to the bp it seemed as though the mf pad wasn't performing as well as I expected.
