OK so a couple of weeks ago i ordered the GG 6" DA. I then got the detailing bug and started to order and buy things. I went to harbor freight and got the pads, i got m105, UC for the less wores off cars, m205, clay kit, and ordered collinite 845.

theres results were done by

* clay bar
* m105
* m205
* Megs Gold

i wanted to use the C845 but it didnt come in time for me too.

now for the questions part.

* the m105 didn't do as well as i expected. it didn't get out some of the older med deep scratches i thought it should have.
*if i get a 6" pad then i need a 5" backing plate?

any help from yours guys is more then helpful

For a 6.5" pad you'll want a 6" backing plate. What type of pads did you use? I'm not familiar with HF pads.

How many passes did you use of each? And can the scratches be caught with a fingernail? You may need to look into M101 which has a bit more cut as well as microfiber pads, or into wet sanding depending on your comfort level.

i did about 3 horizontal and 3 vertical passes, and misted after the first pass. the scratches cannt be caught with a fingernail.

Hmm, now Im wondering if I should just use M100 and M101 instead of the M105.
