I need a pretreatment for front end and lower body panels that actually works for removing light to moderate tar and bugs.

I'm not a high volume shop (Usually 5 cars, sometimes as much as 10) but I need something affordable.

I hear of a "Citrus" pretreatment mentioned on a lot of high end detailing websites. What product or type of product are these guys using?

I am currently considering:

Poor Boy's World Bug Squash
chemical guys bug bugger

What I don't want:

Paint thinners, kerosene, gasoline, enamel reducers, etc
meg's body solvent
Kar Neat products
tarminator (works but I hate aerosol and is not cost affective for a pretreatment)
any cheap low volume over the counter products
Does anyone have any experience with these products or a product that would work for me?

Thanks so much!

You may want to consider Duragloss 472.
$21.70/gal. I have the 22 oz. from AG but can't comment on its effectiveness because I haven't tried it yet, though I've yet to be disappointed with a DG product.

I will look into 472. Does anyone have experience with this product? Thanks Dogfather. Let me know if you try it out.

You're welcome. Just me and my one car (non-pro). As the weather warms up I'll start making my monthly trips to upstate NY and concomitant insects will give me a chance to try it out.

Cool, keep us posted. I've always wanted to go to upstate NY to rock climb and boulder. It's beautiful up there.

Let's get some recommendations everybody! We all hate bugs and tar!

Haha dude, I specifically mentioned that I don't want to use tarminator or meg's body solvent.

Is there a specific solvent that you have in mind that doesn't just run off or evaporate in 10 seconds? :props:

I will look into those. I'd really like to have a product that will take car of both problems, though. That's probably asking a lot. Thanks man.

"Pre-treatment" chemicals have been around for many, many years in the USA...
and are sold through/by many, many different USA-based chemical-supply-houses.

To get the best bang for the buck:
You'd probably be better off going to one of them for:
"citrus cleaners", TFR's, tar and bug removers, degreasers, etc...All of which, BTW, are "pre-treatment chemicals"

Among a host of other pre-treatment chemicals/products...
Here's a few "citrus" pre-treatment products offerings:

-Ardex has a "citrus" solvent concentrate
-Malco has a Super Citrus product
-BAF/PRO has "California Orange"
-Presta has an "orange-based" cleaner/solvent

IMHO...
Why not "look" these companies up...they may just have a jobber in your area.
