I've tried CG Grime Reaper with decent results but still looking for something a little better. After searching the forums sounds like its still mixed? iron X, Sonax and WG Über all get good and a few overrated reviews. I'm looking for something that will help with brake dust and some caked on water spots. I like the formula turning colors to tell me it's working, but -

What is your favorite standby wheel cleaner?

Right now my favorite it WG Uber wheel cleaner. Cleans really well especially on the european vehicles with the heavy dusting pads like my BMW.

I am also a big fan of a wheel cleaner that changes color. I like the bleeding effect offered by Uber.

Here is another popular option to Uber. Sonax Full Effect.

Below is a review done by member Andrew Wilson.

Wf über wheel cleaner hands down. It's sonax full effect on steroids! It foams when sonax somewhat drools.

I have CG Diablo but can't say I've compared it to others. If nothing else it smells like bubblegum.

P21S is still my personal favorite ...safe on all wheels and effective.

I liked Wolfgang Über wheel cleaner it's good cleaner. I had used two bottles and enjoyed them. Now I'm back to using Meg's wheel brightener which I have been using for three years and like it as well

For my weekly washed car I use CG Diablo. For really nasty, baked on brake dust, grimy wheels I use Poorboy's Spray & Rinse.

Love these threads!

As Mike pointed out in my versus review, sonax is a good cleaner. For my own vehicles, I like the diablo because its very gentle and mixed with agitation its stellar.

Sonax on the other hand is great for tough grime and dirt if you dont want to agitate. But if you are going to be scrubbing the rim, get the diablo.

P21S is another extremely good wheel cleaner that quite often gets ignored on here.

IronX can be used, but its very costly and really I see it more for a clay sub/decon spray than a wheel cleaner.

I have a few more out there I am planning on trying and reviewing!

GG Heavy duty works well. Brown Royal for very dirty wheels.

Brown Royal

Yep, my favorite by far. Over 18 times cheaper than sonax since you can dilute it and it's safe for all wheels.

Diablo for anything well maintained to medium build up. Anything heavier I use duragloss all wheel cleaner with good results.

CG Diablo is what I use for just cleaning wheels. If I am going for decontamination then I use Wolf's Chemicals WF-1P Deironizer Decon Gel
