Hi there, first time poster, been reading for quite a while and love this site!

I recently purchased the PC7424xp and orange white and black lake country pads. Using megs ultimate series to buff out my silver GP. This was my first time. Used UC with orange and UP with white. Did my best to follow all technique guidelines.

Results were 90% better than what they were, but I noticed 2 things.
1: although it seemed like all of the swirls were taken out, it seemed to then show another layer of finer swirls further under the paint, only visible when the lighting was at that particularly perfect angle.

2: I re-buffed the hood, roof, and trunk again and it didn't really seem to help!! I really took my time and nothing. I also noticed on the hood it seems like there are a billion tiny indents which I'm not sure we're there before. Any idea what these are? I just hope it's not a result of over compounding and melting away my clear.

Any advice to get around these obstacles next time would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

What year is your car and what was the condition of it before? I'm also curious what others have to say...

Before I advise I like to see pictures, preferably before and after... If that is possible that will be great if not AG can figure it out.

Oh and silver is usually pretty easy that is why I am tuning in to see what everybody else has to say...

FOR DISCLOSURE: I realized after I took that first pic that my polisher had fallen sideways and cleaned it thoroughly before continuing!

Dont really have before pics but here are some afters. My camera couldn't even pick up the fine fine scratches but there are a fair amount of them if looked at closely. The last pic very barely shows the "dots" I was talking about if you look closely at the light reflection near the top of the crescent. I just want to know if I maybe burned too much clear off? I really hope I didn't but I really took my time on the hood and worked the product in.

Overall I'm really happy. This is just a daily driver, but for the amount of work that goes into this job I would also like to learn how to perfect it should I ever get my dream car one day! I'd say this isn't bad for a first time though.

It looks really good, and since it's your first time great job. I don't see anything, like you mentioned and yeah it's hard to capture it with your camera.

All I can say is try using different material? I prefer everything 3M. It's what professional auto body shops prefer. I have always been happy with the results and figured "why switch?"
But hopefully someone else chimes in and can further advise you.
