I'm a newbie to auto detailing and about to do a paint correction on my black Mustang.

I'm not sure how bad these Swirls are when I'm trying to describe them to someone. I guess I'm just wondering what the pros would classify this damage as? Do you guys use a number scale or something? I'm a paramedic so I'm thinking of like a 1-10 pain scale 10 being the worst...lol.

Thanks guys!

Those look pretty severe to me in terms of swirls. I would say you're most likely going to need a 2 step (maybe 3 depending on the products you are using) process to achieve the desired results.

I would consider something like the Meg's MF cutting pads and D300 compound followed by M205 on a white or black pad... however you should perform your own test spots to determine what will work best for your particular situation.

The process I'm planning on going with is:
Megs D300 (MF cutting pad)
Blackfire SRCP (White hexlogic pad)
Blackfire WD (Black hexlogic pad)
Blackfire MS (By hand)

I like it:props:

Should have not problem removing those swirls with the MF cutting discs and D300

Thanks Thor...you're the one who helped me come up with this plan. I just wanted to post pics of the damage to make sure.

BTW on a scale 1-10 how bad would you guys say this is?

I agree, it doesn't look like the clear coat has failed. So it can be fixed

Wool pad
3M compound
3m polish
Wash it
And wax it.

I wouldn't color sand it.
